Hamamatsu, which is the central city of the western
part of Shizuoka prefecture and whose population has reached 600,000,
is famous for the car manufacturers, HONDA and SUZUKI, and for the
musical instruments manufacturers, YAMAHA and KAWAI. What's more,
these days, Hamamatsu is an industrial city with lots of optical
firms and laboratories and is the city where the largest number
of Brazilians in Japan live. As the biggest city in the production
of musical instruments, Hamamatsu hosts many musical events; however,
with regard to sport events, Hamamatsu will host the World Cup this
year for the second time following the World Championships in 1998.
