South American Women's Championship - Brazil and Argentina book places for World Cup

BOGOTA, Colombia, September 07, 2003 - Brazil and Argentina booked their tickets for the Women's World Cup in Japan in November after Brazil claimed the 25th South American Continental Championship with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-13) win over Argentina in the El Salitre Gym of Bogotá, Colombia on Sunday.

With first and second placed teams confirming their tickets to Japan, the Brazilians, with their Olympic bronze medalist Fernando Venturini back in the team, beat the Argentineans easily to remain unbeaten all tournament with six points, one more than the young "gauchas". Third place went to Peru after they beat Colombia 3-1, (25-16, 24-26, 25-16, 25-13). The Peruvians finished with four points and Colombia with three.
